Sinterklaas in den Niederlanden/ Sinterklaas in the Netherlands

As our little one is half Dutch, this year we did not only celebrate santa claus in Germany but also Sinterklaas in the Netherlands. Sinterklaas even plays a greater role in the Netherlands than Christmas. IMG_1279Sinterklass is coming with his horse Amerigo and he brings black Pieter as well. On the evening of 5th dec it is so called pakjesavond. All good children get gifts, the others will be taken to Spain, as Sinterklaas is originally from Spain. Our little one did not only like the packaging but also the content and had great fun while unpacking.

In the afternoon, I strolled through Numansdorp and passed by chance a great little boutique for baby clothing and accessories, for example the brand Feetje, can be found here not cheap but good quality and beautiful. (Sinterklass also came by to do some shopping). Right next to it there’s something for adults a chocolate shop, there is not only chocolate, but also very beautiful decorative items. Inside the shop you walk  on loose wooden planks thus, you do not only smell chocolate but also wood.

Tip: In the Netherlands there is a lot more variety of vegetables Quetschbeuteln than in Germany eg at Kruidvat or Albert Heijn.
