Sonniger Spaziergang durch Oxford/ A sunny day in Oxford

We were lucky to spend a sunny day in Oxford. We didn’t do anything special but simply strolling through this fantastic city. One building is more beautiful than the other. Behind every corner you find a new college or church. Shops, cafes and markets complete the magnificent cityscape. A few of the classic attractions such as the bridge of sighs or the Christian Church College you should give a closer look. From the bridge Magddalen you can spot small flat boats, called punts, reminding me of Venice Gondolier you can be either chauffeured or can punt on the river Thames yourself.

Our lunch break we spent at Cafe Loco, a very sweet cozy café, located just a few minutes from downtown. I was looking for a child-friendly cafe on the Internet before we were heading to Oxford. Well, there were high chairs and changing facilities and beautiful drawings on the wall, but it is quite narrow, so relatively difficult for everyone with pushchairs. However, you can still taste delicious bagels, soups or panini. My favourite drink not only here but in general during this holiday: Elderflower lemonade. We parked at the Oxpens car park, 10 min walking distance. As almost everywhere in England it was quite expensive £ 10 for 4 hours!

We stayed overnight at the Holiday Inn Express just outside of Oxford. (Un) favorable the hotel is right next to the football stadium of Oxford. Here it has happened the first time we were not convinced by the service. The people at the front desk were rather unfriendly. Again, there was only a bar but no dinner served thus, we walked about 5-10min to an Indian restaurant, for £ 6 including Pepsi or lemonade we could fill a box with rice, naan bread and a wide variety of Indian dishes. Perhaps not the best Indian food ever but still tasty.
